An obvious first mention, this course was created by myself (Aleya, CTA founder) to help therapists confidently begin rock climbing in their clinical practice. An avid climber, my masters thesis is on the use of rock climbing to treat women with PTSD. After 10 years of professional guiding and climbing therapy, this training is a culmination of my experience in theory and practice. In the course we cover theory, trauma informed practices, treatment planning and intervention creation, assessment, risk management and more. The goal is to end the course with a ready - to - go program you've created to serve your client population.

Therapeutic Climbing in Experiential Education and Psychotherapy - Institute for Climbing Therapy, Bad Ischl, Austria

Taught by the man who literally WROTE THE BOOK.

Alexis Zajetz is a psychologist, psychotherapist and climbing instructor who wrote the german-language text book on the psychology of rock climbing. For us english speakers, the google translated text has been invaluable in understanding the neurobiology, cognitive and physical processes and the path to mental health that climbing provides. The opportunity to learn from Alexis is extraordinary. The course is highly experiential and leverages the group format to explore climbing therapy interventions.
